* Knight v. City of Yelm, No. 84831-9…

Knight v. City of Yelm, No. 84831-9. Mystic teacher and author JZ Knight is opposing several proposals to subdivide property into single-family residential lots in Yelm. The hearing examiner granted preliminary subdivision approvals in five decisions. Knight later filed a Land Use Petition Act challenge, and the trial court ruled in her favor. On appeal, the Court of Appeals held that Knight could not show she would personally be harmed by land use decision, thus requiring dismissal of her LUPA petition. “[I]f we were to find that Knight had standing, we would first be required to presuppose a series of future events that may not ultimately occur.” The court affirmed the challenged preliminary subdivision approvals, reversed the trial court, and dismissed Knight’s LUPA petition for lack of standing.”

Last week, Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment students were e-mailed on the importance of our 2010 vote, requesting all students in the area to please view this video from Representative Tom Campbell, who is running for reelection for his State Legislature District Two seat.

To reiterate, here are the facts in consideration of Rep. Tom Campbell:

1. Campbell and his opponent are both Republican. There are NO Democrats running for this particular position of the Legislative District’s seat. A vote for representation for all positions of our government is vital, regardless of Party affiliation.

2. Campbell is a former Democrat who has well over a decade of experience with an impeccable voting record, keeping first in mind his constituents.

3. Campbell is known as a “maverick” who does not vote the Party line, rather what is in the best interests of his district.

4. Campbell supports ALL of his constituents without bias, regardless of creed. He has continually demonstrated his interest in Ramtha’s School and our students.

Bottom line: All should vote their own conscience – this additional information has been provided for all to make an informed decision.

Statement from JZ Knight

“We are deeply pained to learn of the tragic death of Vanda Boone and saddened that a murder occurred in our tranquil rural community–a rarity in the Yelm-Rainier-Tenino areas. We support Thurston County detectives to use the best in modern forensic science to convict her killer.

In the absence of next of kin or relatives, Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment will take care of funeral arrangements. Vanda recently moved to the area to be close to the School she loved and the friends she met here. We are disheartened at the loss of any one of our students, but to lose them to homicide is shocking.

We share grief with Vanda’s fellow students, her friends, clients and neighbors. This unfortunate and horrific crime affects us all and many lives will be affected because of Vanda’s passing. We hope this crime will be solved and justice will prevail quickly.”
