Southeast Thurston Fire Authority Chief Mark King had his Letter to the Editor published in the Nisqually Valley News on Friday, May 24, 2013:

JZ Knight Gives Back by Donating to S.E. Thurston Fire Authority

Thank you, JZ Knight, for your generous donations to SE Thurston Fire Authority over the years.
JZ Knight is one of two donors who pay the entire cost of public relations for our great community, paying for things such as:
the Fire & Rescue newsletter, fire prevention and safety education flyers, community outreach, and events.
The fire authority has not had the budget to provide the previously mentioned services in the past, especially during these rough fiscal times.
The generosity of JZ Knight is very much appreciated and the next time you see JZ Knight, please thank her.
Without her generosity, there would be no community outreach program for S.E. Thurston Fire Authority.

Yours Sincerely,

S.E. Thurston Fire Authority
Chief Mark King

JZ Knight’s Letter to the Editor –
“Murder-for-hire accusations can’t silence the truth”

JZ Knight’s Letter to the Editor
published in the Nisqually Valley News Friday, May 24, 2013:

“It is amazing to me how many people think they can answer an argument or break a contract by attributing bad and now malicious motives to those who disagree with them. Of course, using this kind of reasoning you can believe anything without having to bother with inconvenient facts or logic.

Last fall, I supported political causes I believe in. In response, I have been subject to a malicious rumor campaign. Knowing the rumors were baseless, I have been quiet, allowing the rumormongers to wear themselves out with old tales about me, as ridiculous as they were worn out.

However, a rumor recently surfaced that harms the memory of a friend and the investigation into his murder, and I cannot remain silent.

Virginia Coverdale and the sycophants who follow her did not allege that I paid the husband of her source to kill Joe Sumrall — Coverdale said I did. My attorneys and I pushed this to the Thurston County detectives for answers, in particular, was I a person of interest in the cold case murder of Joe Sumrall? The answer from Lt. Greg Elwin was ‘no.'”

“It is often said, “truth is the first casualty of war.” Virginia Coverdale broke the participation agreement she signed twice, initialing each paragraph. That is at the heart of the lawsuit. A simple contract in contrast to the often voluminous non-disclosure agreements that all corporations require their employees or contractors to sign in order to protect the corporation’s products.

I will end this letter with a quote from Socrates:
‘When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.'”

“Sheriff’s office: JZ Knight not a person of interest in murder investigation”

From Steven Wyble in the Nisqually Valley News:
“JZ Knight is not a person of interest in a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office murder investigation, sheriff’s spokesman Greg Elwin said today [May 16].

‘Her name certainly has come up in the investigation, but she is not a person of interest,’ Elwin said.

Elwin said the sheriff’s office is investigating the 1992 murder of Joe Sumrall after receiving new information on the case.

‘Within the last several months we’ve received new information regarding the Sumrall homicide and that’s what we’re investigating, seeing if any of this new information might yield new clues or information that might help solve the case,’ he said. ‘Some of that information has included JZ Knight’s name, but nothing that causes us to consider her a suspect or person of interest in any way.”

“According to court documents, Coverdale allegedly posted on a Facebook group that she had spoken to a woman who claimed her husband murdered someone in Tenino, allegedly at the request of JZ Knight. Lawyers for JZK, Inc. asked Coverdale to name the alleged witness during a deposition interview and she refused, according to court documents.”
