‘VANISHING OF THE BEES’ SPECIAL YELM SCREENING MARCH 12TH

Yelm and Thurston County Issues

SPECIAL SCREENING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT YELM CINEMAS

“Vanishing of the Bees follows commercial beekeepers David Hackenberg and Dave Mendes as they strive to keep their bees healthy and fulfill pollination contracts across the U.S. The film explores the struggles they face as the two friends plead their case on Capital Hill and travel across the Pacific Ocean in the quest to protect their honeybees.

Filming across the US, in Europe, Australia and Asia, this documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and mother earth. As scientists puzzle over the cause, organic beekeepers indicate alternative reasons for this tragic loss. Conflicting options abound and after years of research, a definitive answer has not been found to this harrowing mystery,” quoting the film’s synopsis.

“GHETTO PHYSICS” COMING TO YELM

Yelm and Thurston County Issues

Will Arntz’s celebrated movie
“GHETTO PHYSICS: Will the Real Pimps and Ho’s Please Stand Up!”
is coming to Yelm Cinemas for a week’s showing Friday, February 25 through Thursday, March 3rd at 7:30pm nightly.
There will be a brief Filmmaker Q & A with Will Arntz,
February 25 & 26 following the show.

“Heralded as “…a radically ingenious, in-your-face documentary … bursting with insights” by Steven Rea of the Philadelphia Inquirer, GHETTOPHYSICS takes an eye-opening look at the power relationships that permeate American society from the toughest street corners to Wall Street, from classrooms to boardrooms. The film utilizes documentary footage, animation, satire and dramatization to illustrate examples culled from the real world — be the players real-life pimps or corporate executives — repeating the same power dynamics that have persisted for centuries.

The film includes interviews with notable entertainers and thinkers, such as Dr. Cornel West, Ice-T, KRS-One, Too Short, John Perkins, former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, William H. Arntz (Co-Director) and Norman Lear,” quoting the Olympia Film Society.

EIGHTEEN MONTH RESEARCH PROJECT ON JZ & RAMTHA RELEASED

Yelm and Thurston County Issues

Eighteen Month Research Project on JZ Knight and Ramtha

In 1996 and 1997, a team of 18 researchers studied JZ, Ramtha and the School students. Eight standardized physiological, psychological and behavioral tests were administered repeatedly on JZ and six long-time students. The scientific conference, entitled In Search of Self: The Role of Consciousness in the Construction of Reality held in Yelm, Washington, examined the results of the research. “[JZ Knight] is not a fraud,” said team leader Dr. Stanley Krippner, psychologist and leading parapsychology researcher in the USA. Following the conference, Dr. Stanley Krippner and Dr. Ian Wickramasekera published a paper in 1998 entitled The Ramtha Phenomenon: Psychological, Phenomenological, and Geomagnetic Data in the Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, volume 92. However, they did not include the physiological data.

A new paper is now available online: Sympathetic Reactivity During Meditation by Joan H. Hageman, Ph.D., Stanley Krippner, Ph.D., Ian Wickramasekera II, Psy.D. in Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine. Volume 19. Number 2.

Three Psychological Factors

Compared to the general population, the study participants measured high in Absorption (openness to experience) and Dissociation (the frequency and intensity of dissociating from one’s environment). The third factor is described as mental Boundaries. People with thin boundaries:
- tend to be open, sensitive, and vulnerable
- experience “twilight” states of consciousness easily
- do not repress uncomfortable material
- do not isolate thought from feeling

In contrast, “thick boundaried” people are adaptive, well organized, punctual, reliable, responsible, and efficient; however, they may become rigid and unable to change.
The Conclusion of this paper: Sympathetic Reactivity During Meditation “Our key findings highlight the practicality in clarifying the potentialities of meditation styles [C&E] that emphasize the positive use of absorption, dissociation, and permeable boundaries for individuals who have a greater ability to cognitively focus in addressing health concerns.”

The study can be accessed at the following link: Click here

Now available on DVD,
the original conference proceedings of In Search of the Self,
filmed on location at Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment
and JZ Knight’s home in Yelm, Washington,
February 8 and February 9, 1997.

JZ KNIGHT ADDRESSES THE RECENT POLITICAL VIOLENCE

Yelm and Thurston County Issues

JZ Knight, Channel, Spiritual Leader, and Founder of Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment in Yelm, Washington, makes a statement to address the recent violence in Tucson:

“The rhetoric of removing public figures through suggested violence by commentators or guests on media programs does have consequences to listening/viewing individuals whose mind-set is to be the solution or the hero in killing the person/persons who has been vilified. Case in point: Glenn Beck hoping Michael Moore would get assassinated. There are those who will take up such a mission to carry out the wishes just to please Glen Beck!

We as individuals need to add a new dimension of morality to our common thought. Our political leaders, as well as our media stars, need to be that moral dimension. Words lead to action in people’s lives. Our leaders must be heroes of being and speaking newly inspired ways for common people to think and act on.”

THE PAT TILLMAN STORY – SPECIAL SHOWING THIS SATURDAY

Yelm and Thurston County Issues

ON THIS VETERAN’S DAY, WE PAUSE TO REMEMBER ALL MILITARY VETERANS, WHO HAVE SERVED THIS NATION WITH HONOR & DISTINCTION!

****** OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THIS SATURDAY ******

THE YELM CINEMAS WILL HAVE A SPECIAL SHOWING OF
THE PAT TILLMAN STORY

THIS SATURDAY, 9AM
ALL SEATS $6.25

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

“When Pat Tillman gave up his professional football career to join the Army Rangers in 2002, he became an instant symbol of patriotic fervor and unflinching duty. But the truth about Pat Tillman is far more complex, and ultimately far more heroic, than the caricature. And when the government tried to turn his death into propaganda, they took on the wrong family. From her home in Northern California, Pat’s mother, Dannie Tillman, led the family’s crusade to reveal the truth beneath the mythology of their son’s life and death. THE TILLMAN STORY resounds with emotion and insight, and goes beyond an indictment of the government to touch on themes as timeless as the notion of heroism itself,” quoting The Tillman Story.

WASHINGTON STATE SUPREME COURT GRANTS JZ KNIGHT’S PETITION FOR REVIEW

Yelm and Thurston County Issues

From the State Supreme Court of Washington Blog:

“The Supreme Court granted review in several cases in its November 2 conference.

* Knight v. City of Yelm, No. 84831-9…

Knight v. City of Yelm, No. 84831-9. Mystic teacher and author JZ Knight is opposing several proposals to subdivide property into single-family residential lots in Yelm. The hearing examiner granted preliminary subdivision approvals in five decisions. Knight later filed a Land Use Petition Act challenge, and the trial court ruled in her favor. On appeal, the Court of Appeals held that Knight could not show she would personally be harmed by land use decision, thus requiring dismissal of her LUPA petition. “[I]f we were to find that Knight had standing, we would first be required to presuppose a series of future events that may not ultimately occur.” The court affirmed the challenged preliminary subdivision approvals, reversed the trial court, and dismissed Knight’s LUPA petition for lack of standing.”
